Note : FAO Magister Phaegol
We are hunting Great stones called Garlas, Sideways and Kemen.
Captain Vivheim read the note with a crease furrowing his brow, he released the fox that had carried the note from the traitor. What were the Great Stones called Garlas, Sideways and Kemen? He quickly scrawled an addenda to the note and wrapped it up again. He looked at his Bosmer warriors and picked one..
“You there, Falaril, take this note to Magister Phaegol in his tower at the White City immediately.”
Falaril returned several hours later, exhausted from his there and back journey. “Captain, Phaegol is suspicious of this traitor but has ordered you to split our Peditum into three groups. Falaril you will take one third to Garlas Malatar near Anvil, Eleroi will take another third to Sideways Cave just north of the White City and I will take the remaining third into enemy territory at Kemen near Cheydinhal. I can show you on our maps where to go. We are to occupy these places and ambush any Hands that arrive there. If any of the Reivers survive then Phaegol himself will torture us, all of us! Do you understand?” Falaril and Eleroi understood more than well enough the joy their Magister took in dealing with failure.
The journey to Kemen had taken all of their Bosmer stealth to move past the Imperial troops without being noticed, they had climbed up into the Valus mountains and come across the entrance to this Ayleid ruin. He had thirty keen Bosmer light troops ready to lay in wait for those cursed Bruma Reivers. It was time to plan the ambush.
Meara's Diary : 10th Rain's Hand
This is to honour my Mage-sister Tully, my first Dunmer friend whose ruby eyes and faithful support has been my guide through these weeks in the Reivers. I hope she knows that she has been and will be avenged. That cursed Bosmer captain took my Katana through his guts before I chopped his head off. It seems that my esteemed Heroic ancestor gave me a little more with my Katana than I thought. That bastinado Bosmer may have let it slip as he was dying with my sword in his belly…
“You may have a Great Welkynd stone but you’ll not get into Oblivion for a Sigil stone!”
He was laughing until he looked at the pommel of my sword and then went “Oh no a Sigil…” but that was as the blade severed through his neck. I was raging, with Tully dead in the corner of that second level from a series of arrows, shock blasts and his poisoned sword.
We took the Great Welkynd stone and left the top floor, past the bodies of Bosmer caught in the blade and gas traps. It was good their bodies showed where the traps were, we took little damage with only a bit of coughing from one of the gas traps. The two blade traps we avoided. On the first level, there were holes where there had been some Welkynd stones. On the second level was where those Bosmer infantry hit with numbers but we were well organised, the heavy guys out front holding them back whilst us other three hit them with ranged attacks. Shaker and Hey Boy aimed to block and stagger them back so Tully, Hey Gal and I could hit them with magic and arrows. They were down to low numbers until that cursed Captain came in from a secret door to the side and cut poor Tully down. We easily took the three soldiers but that Captain was a tricky one, he fled downstairs. I grabbed Shaker and we ran, me ahead of that lumbering Orsimer. I caught and cut that Captain as he fled through the door, on the entrance steps I sliced his stomach and we had our little conversation. Shaker just caught up as his bonce went bouncing down the stairs. Ha, I spat on him too, I know Mama had always said respect your enemies but not today Mama, not for Tully. The Orsimer understood, Shaker growled his approval.
Meara's Diary : 10th Rain's Hand
I went to Talos’ Shrine and swore my oath ‘Talos Oath-enforcer, I swear on your shrine, that cursed Phaegol will know our vengeance and by the sword of the Hero of Kvatch he will die for Tully’s death.’
The Whitefire was pleased with our result; to have the keys to this magical Arcadia is a big step forward. Unfortunately it means I need to remove the Sigil stone from my sword at some stage. It will remove the enchantment but The Whitefire promised that Danvil will add a replacement enchantment to it. Another dangerous mission early tomorrow. We need to find where the entrance is to this Arcadia. Hey Gal persuaded The Whitefire to let us Fiddlers do it, we have to break into the White City and find this Phaegol’s office. It sounds very scary but if I get a chance for Vengeance I’ll take it.
